Book a School Visit

I love doing school visits and have a variety of presentations for almost any age group — from interactive art activities with elementary school students, to book talks with middle schoolers, to writing workshops with high school students.

No speaking fees. Check out the details below!

Elementary School

Elementary school students are the perfect age to be introduced to my books (which are rated for ages 8 - 12, but I think are more for ages 8 - 92).

In this presentation, we explore the worlds of the Imagine Nation and meet the heroes, villains, aliens, robots, and ninjas who live there. I show the students pictures of superheroes I drew when I was their age. Some of the characters I made up back then are in my books today!

At the end of the talk, I lead the students in an optional create-your-own-superhero activity.

(Grades 3 - 4)

Middle School

With Middle Schoolers, I talk about my books, but I also tell the students my story and how I came to write them. (When I was their age, I thought writing a book was impossible).

This talk stresses the importance of believing in yourself, following your dreams, and never giving up — a recurring theme in all my novels. This presentation includes artwork from my middle school years, allowing students to see how my work has developed over time.

At the end of the talk, we have a Q&A session. The students always have great questions.

(Grades 5 - 8)

High School

My writing workshop for high school students, “How to Stop Creating Content and Start Telling Stories,” is designed for all students, not just aspiring writers.

In this presentation, I share tips that are useful in writing fiction, college level schoolwork, and in business. This talk draws on my experience as an author and my professional experience writing for C-Suite executives and brands such as MTV, Ford Motor Company, UBS, and many others.

At the end of the talk, we have a Q&A about everything from college essays, to writing professionally, to AI and beyond.

(Grades 9 - 12)

No Booking Fees, Just Books

Take the money you would have spent on my appearance fee, and use it to put books in the hands of your students.

For me, there’s nothing better than getting in front of readers to inspire — and get inspired by — the next generation of creative superstars. But I’ve always found it challenging to book these events. Most schools plan “Author Day” so far in advance I miss the booking window. Also, not every school can afford to pay an appearance fee, and I really don’t like turning down schools simply because they have less resources.

But I can’t be everywhere, so here’s my solution: No more booking fees, just books.

  • Virtual School Visits:

    • If your school orders 35 copies of any of my books, I will do a no-fee virtual school visit.

  • In-Person School Visits:

    • If your school orders 70 copies of any of my books, and you are in the NY/NJ area, I will do a no-fee, in-person school visit.

Orders can come from students, the school, the PTO, or any combination that works. For virtual visits, books will be shipped to your school at media mail rates (lowest possible rate) and charged back to the school at cost.
